BG(DR) Wong Yue Sie

BG(DR) Wong Yue Sie is the Chief of the SAF Medical Corps. During the national SARS contingency, BG(DR) Wong was instrumental in strategizing SAF and MINDEF health and operational policies, as well as directing the complex operations within the Medical Corps. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the SAF Certificate of Commendation.

BG(DR) Wong was enlisted in 1978 and completed his undergraduate medical studies in National University of Singapore in 1984. He was appointed Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in United Kingdom of both Edinburgh and Glasgow in 1989, during his tenure as a Medical Officer in the Ministry of Health.

From 1992 till 1994, he served first as a staff officer and then as a branch head in Headquarters Army Medical Services. He also served as a member of the SAF Medical Team deployed during the Gulf War in 1991. He returned to the Ministry of Health for the next two years to complete his advanced training in Orthopaedic Surgery. He was Acting Chief Army Medical Officer from 1996 - 1997, and was appointed Senior Medical Officer (Healthcare) for the next three years and returned to Army Medical Services as Chief from 2000 - 2001.

BG(DR) Wong also holds appointments as a member of the Board of Directors of ST Medical Services Pte Ltd and the Health Promotion Board. He has received numerous SAF accolades to recognise his contributions and recently received the National Day Public Administration Medal (Silver) and the SAF Overseas Service Medal for his services during the Gulf War.

LTC(DR) Gregory Chan

LTC(DR) Gregory Chan is an Occupational Health and Diving Physician and was the Head of Preventive Medicine in the Headquarters of the SAF Medical Corps during the national SARS Contingency. He was involved in analysis of medical data both locally and globally as well as policy formulation, its implementation, contact tracing, education and training in the SAF and Ministry of Health. He was also invited by the National Safety Council to speak about the lessons learnt in the management of SARS at the workplace. In recognition of his contributions, he received the SAF Certification of Commendation and the National Day Commendation Medal Award.

He began his military career in various branch head appointments in the RSN including Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine and was Fleet Medical Officer. He has participated in various civic missions and has led the SAF Medical Team to East Timor as part of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force.

After completing his basic medical degree in 1992, LTC(DR) Chan underwent further specialist post-graduate training including the Masters of Medicine in Occupational Medicine (graduated with distinction and awarded the institutional Gold Medal), Certificates in Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine, and Diplomas in Geriatric Medicine and Dermatology. He is a Fellow with the Academy of Medicine, Singapore and the Department of Community, Occupational and Family Medicine, and also visiting specialist to the SAF Military Medicine Institute and Singapore Police Force. He was also an advisor to the World Health Organisation. He received the Young Asian Scientist Award during the Asian Congress of Occupational Health in 2002.

He is presently pursuing higher specialist training in Occupational Health and Epidemiological research at the National University of Singapore.
