SAF Medicine Scholarship

The SAF Medicine Scholarship is an exclusive scholarship programme for those who aspire to become military doctors. The scholarship allows you to pursue medical studies locally and develop as officers for senior medical positions in the SAF Medical Corps.


As an SAF Medicine Scholar, you will be offered the opportunity to beinvolved in operations that directly contribute to the peace and security of Singapore.





  • Singaporean Citizen, or Permanent Resident intending to take up citizenship

  • Excellent results for the GCE 'A' Levels, or the International Baccalaureate, or equivalent

  • Qualify for Officer Cadet School

  • Good Co-Curricular Activity (CCA) record

  • Possess a strong interest in a military career

  • Application open to both males and females


Value of Award

  • Monthly salary

  • Full tuition fee coverage

  • Book allowance

  • Computer subsidy (a one-off subsidy of $1,500)

  • Accommodation subsidies based on local twin-sharing hostel rates

  • One-time sponsorship of overseas electives


Course of Study / Universities

Course of study:




- National University of Singapore (NUS) Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine; or

- Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine


*Applicants must secure a place to study Medicine in either of these two universities in order to qualify for the scholarship.


Length of Bond

Scholarship holders will be required to serve a 6-Year Bond^ period with the SAFupon successful completion of their studies in either NUS or NTU.


^The bond runs concurrent with the MOH bond, but the bond will be suspended during periods of Speciality Training and Hospital Posting.
