Staff Attachment to UN HQ, Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO)
Since Nov 95, Singapore have seconded qualified personnel at no cost to the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (UN DPKO) to support the UN's peacekeeping efforts. This is especially important at a time when the UN is facing downsizing and fiscal stringency. Secondment of SAF officers stopped in Feb 1999 with the termination of the Gratis Scheme. With the expansion of the UN DPKO staffing in 2001, SAF secured the post of Mission Planning Officer from Apr 01 to Aug 01.
