Rules & Regulations
  1. The Competition is open to all SAF Officers and Warrant Officers (Regulars, NSmen, NSFs and Officer Cadets), DXOs and DSTA personnel.

  1. Entries may be submitted as an individual or group effort. However, the entries must be unpublished work.

  1. The essays should be between 2,000 and 4,000 words, typewritten double-spacing on A4-size paper with all pages numbered.

  1. The official cover sheet, properly filled in, must accompany each entry. The writer's/writers' name(s) should not appear in the main essay. The essay title should be repeated on the first page of the essay.

  1. All entries must include detailed footnotes/endnotes and a bibliography.

  1. Essays are to be submitted to the Assistant Editor, POINTER, Centre of Learning and Military Education, SAFTI MI, in soft copy (either in Microsoft Word or Open Office format) either via OA e-mail or Starnet e-mail (pointer@starnet.gov.sg).

  1. The closing date of the competition is 31 Jan 2009.

  1. The essays will be assessed in confidence by an independent panel of judges. No appeals will be entertained. Results of the competition will be announced in Jun 2009.

  1. Entries which do not comply with any of the above competition rules will be disqualified.

  1. The editorial board reserves the right to edit essays selected for publication.

  • War-fighting/Force Transformation
  • Leadership/Organisational Development
  • Conflict and Security Studies
