Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Navy (RTN), Admiral (ADM) Satirapan Keyanon, was conferred Singapore's prestigious military award, the Meritorious Service Medal (Military), by Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean on 11 Jun.

ADM Satirapan was awarded the medal for strengthening the excellent ties and friendship between the RTN and the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN).

Under his leadership, professional interactions and cooperation between the two navies have increased to cover a wide range of activities, from the biennial Exercise Sing-Siam, to the attendance of military courses, visits and port calls.

These engagements have contributed to the professionalism of the two navies and strengthened the camaraderie among their officers and men.

ADM Satirapan has also provided valuable support for the RTN's participation in multilateral activities organised by the RSN, such as those under the ambit of the Western Pacific Naval Symposium.

Before the investiture, ADM Satirapan called on Mr Teo and Chief of Navy Rear-Admiral Chew Men Leong.
