Singapore has signed a contract with Boeing to buy 12 F-15SG ('SG' for 'Singapore') advanced fighter jets.

The F-15SG will be the most advanced variant of the F-15. It will have a configuration that is unique to Singapore.

The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) will operate these F-15SGs as its next-generation multi-role fighter jets. They will be equipped with sophisticated avionics and weapons systems.

According to the terms of the contract, the RSAF has an option to buy another eight aircraft at a future date.

The 12 F-15SGs are expected to be delivered from 2008 onwards.

They will replace the RSAF's retired A-4SU Super Skyhawks.
