The opening ceremony of Ex Elang Indopura was officiated by RSAF Chief of Staff (Air Staff) BG Sih Seah Wee and Deputy Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force Air Marshal I Gusti Made Oka.

The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) and the Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU) are conducting a joint air exercise, code-named Elang Indopura, involving 300 personnel and 15 aircraft.

The 15th in the series of biennial exercises, Exercise Elang Indopura will be conducted in two phases. The first phase, a Command Post Exercise (CPX), is being held at Paya Lebar Air Base from 9 to 11 Jul 08. Through the CPX participants will gain a mutual appreciation of one another's operating procedures and mission-planning processes. The second phase, the Air Manoeuvre Exercise (AMX), will be conducted at Iswahyudi Air Force Base (AFB) in East Java from 18 Jul to 1 Aug 08.

As part of the exercise, personnel from the two air forces will also conduct a joint socio-civic programme where they will distribute food packages, provide medical and dental services to the local community at Iswahyudi AFB hospital on 29 and 30 Jul 08.

Exercise Elang Indopura enhances the professionalism and interoperability of the RSAF and TNI-AU. It also forges closer relations and rapport between the officers and men of the two air forces.
