The Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force, General Michael Moseley, was conferred Singapore's prestigious military award, the Pingat Jasa Gemilang (Tentera), or the Meritorious Service Medal (Military), by Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean at an investiture ceremony held at the Ministry of Defence this morning. The Meritorious Service Medal (Military) was awarded to General Moseley in recognition of his significant role in forging closer bilateral ties between the United States Air Force and the Republic of Singapore Air Force.
Under General Moseley's leadership, professional interactions between the United States Air Force and the Republic of Singapore Air Force have grown in scope and depth. The two air forces engage in a wide spectrum of activities in the form of exercises, visits, staff talks, seminars, and courses. The Republic of Singapore Air Force has also benefited significantly from the invaluable support and assistance rendered by General Moseley for its training in the United States. In particular, General Moseley’s personal support has been instrumental in the setting up of the upcoming F-15SG detachment in Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho.
General Moseley, who is in Singapore from 8 to 10 Apr 2008, made a courtesy call on Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew yesterday. He also called on Minister Teo, Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Desmond Kuek, and Chief of Air Force Major-General Ng Chee Khern prior to the investiture ceremony this morning.
