SAF Medical Personnel Complete Mission and Return Home

MAJ (Dr) Lim Mui Hong, a surgeon with the SAF Medical Team, is greeted by his family at the Air Force Museum soon after arrival.

The SAF medical personnel who were deployed in a humanitarian assistance mission immediately after the earthquake struck Central Java on 27 May 06 have returned from Bantul. Minister for Defence Teo Chee Hean was at Paya Lebar Airbase this evening to welcome home the 43-member team who were flown back in two SAF C-130 aircraft. Also present at the homecoming ceremony were family members of the returning personnel, as well as Chief of Air Force Brigadier-General Ng Chee Khern, and Chief of Medical Corps Brigadier-General Wong Yue Sie.

Minister Teo Chee Hean welcomes the returning medical team.

The 43-member medical team from the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) on a humanitarian assistance mission to Bantul, Indonesia returned on 7 Jun.

An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Ritcher scale devastated the region on 27 May and claimed the lives of about 6,000 people.
