The mission of the SAF Centre of Leadership Development is to promote leadership excellence
and to spearhead leadership development in the SAF. SCLD was established in Dec 02, to be the key driver to operationalise a new Masterplan for Leadership Development in the SAF.
Located within the beautiful grounds of the tri-service SAFTI Military Institute (MI), we report to the Chief of Defence Force through Commandant, SAFTI MI. As part of the SAF's Joint establishment, we are responsible for Leadership Development across the three Services and at all levels of Leadership.

- Being the authority on leadership in the SAF by setting the standards, developing and clarifying concepts and ideas related to leadership in the SAF, including the SAF Core Values and the "Will to Fight".
- Coordinating across Services, schools and units to ensure consistency and continuity of leadership development efforts and systems throughout the SAF.
- Facilitating training and education and monitoring the effectiveness of leadership development efforts and systems throughout the SAF.
- Collaborating with the SAF human resource agencies to synergise leadership training with leader career development and personnel management.
- Representing the SAF in dealing with local and international agencies and institutions on matters related to leadership and leadership development.
