COMBINED NEWS RELEASE
SAFTI Military Institute (SAFTI MI) signed separate Memorandum of Understandings with the Australian Defence College (ADC), and Nanyang Business School (NBS) to promote professional and educational development.
The MOU with the ADC is the first for SAFTI MI with a foreign military institution. The aim is to strengthen relations, cooperation, enhance greater mutual understanding, and promote professional development in military training and education. This partnership will enable SAFTI MI and the ADC to engage in joint research and development in military leadership, strategic studies and in professional military knowledge such as in peacekeeping, humanitarian, coalition, multi-national and joint operations. Where applicable, regular conferences, seminars and publications will be used to share and exchange research findings in order to benefit wider audiences in the SAF and the Australian Defence Force.
SAFTI MI's MOU with NBS raises the level of collaboration that already exists between the two institutions. It allows SAFTI MI to leverage on NBS's knowledge in the area of leadership and management sciences, and for NBS to benefit from SAFTI MI's experience in military leadership, values and organisational development. The two institutions may identify and develop joint research projects on theories, methodologies and strategies related to ethics, values and other aspects of leadership development and education.
The MOU with ADC was signed by BG Eric Tan Huck Gim, Commandant SAFTI MI, and RADM Mark Bonser, Commander ADC. And the MOU with NBS was signed by Commandant SAFTI MI and Professor Hong Hai, Dean of NBS.

SAFTI MILITARY INSTITUTE
SAFTI Military Institute (SAFTI MI) is tri-service and tri-level institute of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and home of the SAF Officer Corps.
Its mission is: "To develop a corps of SAF officers to lead in the defence of Singapore and to safeguard its independence and sovereignty. SAFTI MI builds upon SAFTI's tradition of providing professional, rigorous and disciplined training for Army, Navy and Air Force officers. Through its tri-service training, SAFTI MI aims to forge common bonds and commitment among fellow officers, and build an integrated SAF."
All levels of training from the junior level at Officer Cadet School (OCS), to the intermediate in the SAF Advanced Schools (SAS), to senior command and staff level at the Singapore Command and Staff College (SCSC), are centralised at SAFTI MI. AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE COLLEGE
Commencing 1 January 2001, a reorganised Australian Defence College - Weston Creek (ADC-WC) comprising three tri-service educational organisations was opened. The College has overarching responsibility for Australia's premier tri-Service officer education establishments: the Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies (CDSS), the Australian Command and Staff College (ACSC) (both located at Weston Creek), and the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA), located at Northcott Drive, Campbell. The Commander ADC is RADM Mark Bonser, AO, CSC, RAN. He exercises command over the ADC and its component parts; each headed by a one-star or equivalent officer (Principal CDSS, Commandant ACSC and Commandant ADFA).
The ADC Mission is to professionally education defence leaders and managers of the future.
