Singapore Participates in Annual Exercise SEACAT

The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) is participating in the annual Southeast Asia Cooperation And Training (SEACAT) exercise, together with the United States Navy and navies from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand. This year's exercise, held from 11 to 15 August 2014, marks the 13th in the series.

RSN and USN Conduct Successful Combined Torpedo Firing

The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and the United States Navy (USN) successfully conducted a combined torpedo firing earlier today, as part of the 20th annual Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) exercise. The firing was conducted by RSN Formidable-class frigate RSS Stalwart, Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Sikorsky S-70B Seahawk naval helicopter and a USN MH-60R Naval Helicopter against an underwater transponder target.

On 12 Jan, 55 Midshipmen from the 68th Midshipmen Course were commissioned as naval officers of the Republic of Singapore Navy by the President of the Republic of Singapore Dr Tony Tan at the 87/12 Officer Cadet Commissioning Parade, held at the SAF Training Institute - Military Institute.

In his speech, Dr Tan reminded the newly commissioned officers of the responsibilities that the nation and the SAF have entrusted them with. "As leaders, you will be responsible for the readiness, welfare, morale and discipline of the men and women under your command. Train them well and motivate them to do their best, but always have their well-being and safety at heart," he said.
