Signals made giant strides in realising the Digital Revolution. In a short span of three years, beginning in 1995, the Digital Revolution saw the integration of data capabilities into the TCS backbone and the delivery of the 1st Generation Army CCIS in 1998.
Subsequently, 2nd Generation Army CCIS featuring COTS equipment and numerous software improvements were operationalised within the next two years, in 2000. The rapid and continual upgrades, both in software and hardware, was a testament to the Signal formation’s professionalism and commitment in providing the best and the latest to the Army to meet the ever-expanding operational requirements.
Together with ground commanders, ops-users, defence technologies, Signals had made the digital revolution possible and enabled the Army’s thrust into the digitised battlefield. This has given our forces the operational edge.
