REACHING OUT - Operation Flying Eagle Book On Sale Now From S$10.00

The work of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) in the aftermath of the Boxing Day tsunami has been chronicled in a book, ‘Reaching Out – Operation Flying Eagle’.

It tells the story of how the SAF carried out its mission to provide immediate relief and assistance after the tsunami – from the planning, to the logistics, to the action on the ground.

Return of SAF's Chinooks from Sumatra



11 Apr 05 - The SAF's three Chinook helicopters, which were deployed to Northern Sumatra following the 29 Mar 05 earthquake, have returned to Singapore. The helicopter detachment supported the transportation of emergency relief teams and equipment, and carried out medical evacuation from the disaster areas.

SAF Medical Corps

The SAF Medical Services has been called upon to provide humanitarian and medical aid to other countries since its inception. From East Pakistan in 1970 to Indonesia in 2005, the SAF Medical Services has responded swiftly to the cry for help. Through such overseas operations, it has contributed to the enhanced international profile of Singapore, and given a human face to the SAF.
