The Leopard's Journey
Posted: 10 Oct 2008, 1400 hours (Time is GMT +8 hours)
The Leopard 2A4 was a crowd favourite at AOH 2007

"Increased protection, mobility, lethality and potential for future growth" are four key strengths which set the Leopard 2A4 Main Battle Tanks (MBTs) apart from other armoured platforms in the field. These strengths were highlighted by Minister for Defence Mr Teo Chee Hean when he first announced our Army's decision to acquire 66 Leopard MBTs and 30 spares in December 2006. Since then, the Armour Formation has witnessed various milestones - from the tanks' arrival to training the first company of Leopard crewmen. Army News recaps these milestones as our Army operationalises the Leopard MBT.

Known to some as the 'world's most beautiful 100-km run', the Mongolian Sunrise to Sunset is an annual ultramarathon which takes runners through verdant forests and past the serene Lake Khovsgol. While the scenery is exquisite, the terrain and weather can be unforgiving, with participants having to bash through dense vegetation, endure hailstones and run at altitudes of up to 2300m. Taking on this challenge in July was Ms Jasmine Wong, Head Physiotherapist of Soldier Performance Centre, who came in second for the women's category with a timing of 18 hours and 40 minutes. She is the first Singaporean female to complete the race, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.
